Emmentaler AOP – the King of Cheeses Records Significant Domestic Growth in 2020

An impressive figure, considering that Emmentaler AOP is heavily dependent on exports and the Swiss original is still handcrafted daily in about 110 carefully selected dairies in the region of origin, following the original Emmentaler recipe.

In 2020, the Emmentaler Switzerland organization recorded growth for Emmentaler AOP for the second consecutive year. This is most evident in the domestic market, where sales increased by 4.8 percent, with an additional 219 tons. The domestic growth demonstrates that consumers particularly trust traditional brands and high-quality premium products from Switzerland, especially in the current situation.
